The water comes rushing out.
I am soaked.
An age old prank on April Fool's Day.
An elastic on the spray hose at the sink.
An elastic on the spray hose at the sink.
But I can't laugh.
I am angry that I am wet.
I am already cold.
The heat not working in the house.
So it plummets to 58.
I have cooked breakfast, explained schedules and triaged ride situations.
I've run a marathon before 8 and I haven't even taken a shower.
And now I am wet.
Soaking wet.
And cold.
And the venom spews.
The sweet 8 year old just trying to have a laugh.
Really a harmless prank.
But I am wound tighter than a drum.
There's no time for that.
Yet just a few weeks ago,
For no apparent reason.
Now.
I just want to cry.
How do I explain to this young child, when I can't even explain it myself.
My heart hurts.
I want the day to be over and it has just started.
The sun comes out and I can't shake this feeling.
The day marches to the beat of it's own drum.
Each task hurtling towards me with no relief.
Lunch, cello, dentist, grocery shopping and a video chat.
Then it is dinner and finally I can put this day to rest.
But just before I do; just before I write this day off as
"one of those days."
I am reminded of God's love.
He loves us.
Just because.
Not because we're great or we're good.
Not because we have worked so hard.
He loves us.
Despite who we are.
He loves us.
Just because.
That little 8 year old plays another prank on the neighbor boys.
I can hear their giggles and laughter.
Jesus loves us. . .Just because.
Romans 8:37-39
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future,nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Your blog title this morning brought lyrics by Bill Gaither's song Because He lives to mind...perhaps they'll lift your heart as you reset for the battles of the moment.. I pray for you often based on what you post. Here are the lyrics:
ReplyDeleteGod sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!
Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!
Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to vict'ry,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!
Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
I too, love the Gaithers. I have mentioned it many times in my blog. It was a song my mom adored. Thank you for posting the lyrics. All of them. There is not a nugget to be missed. http://farmingoncilleyhill.blogspot.com/2013/10/there-is-great-grace-and-there-is-still.html
