Pressing Through

One hard day has been pressed through. . .
We shed hot molten tears;
unlike the ones we shed on the day he was born.
Such a contrast.
It is twisted and hard to grasp.

Friends joined us and we ate.
A neighbor made a cake.

We had Ben and Jerry's and Oreo's; just like we do every year.
We sat out by the fire and sang Hymns and Praise songs.
I treasured the moment.

Mama's shouldn't have to bury their babies.
Mama's shouldn't have to have their lives turned inside out. . .
Yet what guarantee is there in this life?
God never told us it would be perfect.
He said there would be trouble.
He said when you face trials of many kinds consider it joy. . .James 1:2-4
Because we will become mature and complete not lacking anything.
He said he would walk every step of the weary way with us. . .
And this way is weary.
I find myself clinging so desperately to the promises He gave.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you;
he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

At times my only comfort.

We couldn't stay outside.
The heaven's declared their majesty in a thunderous display with flashing light.
And it began to rain.

Psalm 19:1
The heavens declare the glory of God;
    the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

We came inside. It was time for everyone to go home.

We sang Happy Birthday.

I couldn't.
The words would not come.
Instead the tears flowed freely.
And I wonder what your birthday looks like in Heaven?
With the display going on outside. . .it must be spectacular.

We ended the evening by going before the throne of grace in prayer.
Asking and seeking, pleading for guidance and direction through this time.
Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble

I will look on Him and I will rest in His grace.
One weary moment at a time.

Trusting. . .
