This Is War

They know I am on to them.
As bold as brass they run across the floor. With no care that I am there.
Now, with traps set in strategic places they refuse to venture forth.

We can not co exist. I draw the line.
They are small and furry. They leave messes everywhere.
They are almost like my children in some ways.
But my children are allowed to stay.
They are not.
I am sure they would argue they have been here longer.
It bears no weight.
Even if some think they are cute and Walt has personified the image.
I wait to hear a snap. I check to see if there are any signs.
I even dreamed I have conquered them.
But not this morning.
One snapped and sprung into my grease cup.
Really?
The other licked dry of peanut butter.

They think they are going to have the last laugh.
We scrub cupboards and dishes with clorox.

Leviticus 11:29
Now these are to you the unclean among the swarming things which swarm on the earth: the mole, and the mouse, and the great lizard in its kinds,

Nothing that swarms is good.

This is war.

Unless Mighty Mouse is headed our way.

  1. Go get'em girl!!! Do you remember when we had them at Grandma's on the pantry shelf leading to the basement? We had to throw away more cereal in those days. Today the cereal would be kept in plastic containers to protect it..........but in those days, everything came off the shelf and was thrown away. Then the shelves were scrubbed.........I remember it well...........:) Good luck in your war.............

    1. Yes, I remember, And then they had those bugs in all the cereal when they started to go to Florida. I remember cleaning off that shelf so many times! What I really remember is having to clean her house and empty and wash those disgusting ash trays. And then I had to iron handkerchiefs. But I liked doing that. Gram's iron was so hot and she had great starch. I will win. . .

  2. I know you don't like cats but one good mouser is worth 1000 traps. If you are going to bleach then bleach before every meal as they walk through your cupboards at will, over everything you touch in your farmhouse, across your pillows wen you are not home. My house built in the 1860s has mice. No amount of traps and poison will get them all. Winter comes and field mice come in. Our cats kill mice daily, they get moles and voles, and a snake or two. But the next day their are more mice. You'll have to become a cleaning fanatic to even come close to getting all the foot prints off the things that you touch daily. God give you Mighty Mouse speed. 3. Ha! We've been arch enemies for years. I like cats. I just can't have them in the house. We go through periods where we keep them at bay. . . We clean the cupboards more than you want to know, Ask the girls, Bleached and washed. Every dish, corner etc. . .The battle is on. . . they can inhabit the 3rd floor! :)

  4. This made me LOL Tammy! Just don't use D-Con -- I have a story to tell you about THAT sometime. Fun to hear that old "Mighty Mouse" song! I was smiling while listening to that once familiar tune, and all I could think of was that it was the mice calling for Mighty Mouse to spare them from your traps! Tee Hee! From one old Farmhouse peppered with mice to another!
